Due to low oil pressure I pulled the engine on Romeo Bravo. The crank has some grooves.

I'm looking to buy an 0-200. Let me know what you have.

Make sure it's not off a wreck with a sudden prop stoppage/strike
Overhauled 1979- 36 years ago! Where has it been sitting all that time? Were the cyls older TCM with the 24 degree timing turn back?
And how many times were they reworked?
$5500 may seem like a bargain, priced exactly to get a quick sale...

Sometimes an engine is pulled off a plane, some guy buys it for his homebuilt kit that never gets built, then sells it to someone else, and so on, and after 30+ years nobody knows the original history and the engine suddenly becomes valuable based on what the "logbooks" say.....

Ask questions! You may open engine and find the last overhaul was barely in tolerances....or has a bent crank, or is all corroded/rusty due to poor storage...
Just sayin"...

There is a zero time, all new parts available locally... Asking $10,500 CAD. Would you like me to investigate further?

I'm interested in an O-200 also. Of course Richie gets first dibs.

My engine has been overhauled three times before, so don't know whether it has another one in it. Looking at options.

funny thing about overhauls... you could have an engine that has been done 5 times - but along the way every single part has been replaced. It's possible the crank, cam, case etc have only the current run on them. I wish that overhauled engines were required to maintain their old logbooks with the engine so that you could tell just how old some of the parts are.

For example - ours has 1860 since last overhaul, but I don't know how many times it was done before that. Does it matter? Not sure... I know the case, cam and all bearings were replaced at 400 hours of the current run, and I think they were all new parts (though it doesn't actually specify either way).

Regardless... the "engine" is essentially just the serial number and data plate. every single part could be replaced and it's still considered "that" engine. Which is why I wish all the logs associated with a data plate and SN were required to remain available, but what do I know.

It's been for sale for at least a couple years, I do not know the date of overhaul.

This is the overhaul shop [aeroatelier.aero]

If they did the work, that could at least verify what was done and when. Of course, they cannot comment on what happened to it after if left their shop.

I'm gonna stick with what's on Ole Delmar till it don't work no Mo !! smile Then I am gonna fix what's on Ole Delmar till I can't no Mo. He he.
