Hung,
Keep in mind I didn't say YOUR Airmap is junk, but for the very high price they were back then I call mine junk because it was not uncommon to lose the satelite lock, or one idiotic thing or another. Actually mine was an original too...not a 300, as I misstated. My Apollo Flybuddy GPS has lost a lock maybe 3 times in all the years I've had it. The Airmap 500 I've been running for a couple of years has NEVER had a glitch of ANY kind...which is the kind of reliability I expect and appreciate.

Just curious, why do you and Chris think the Airmap 300 is junk. I have the original Airmap, which is the Airmap 300 but with 5 channels instead of 12, and it works fine for me.

Hung,Let me clarify. My AirMap 300 is junk. Passed down from 2+ previous owners without use, I have no rechargeable battery, no unattached antenna, and can't hold a fix more than 5 minutes.
I did get the manual and didn't find it tedious to work with all in all. I just can't use it.
Know where I could get accessories?
Worth a try since I got it for free.

You could easily spend more on accessories than you would if you bought a used, more up-to-date GPS. Ebay it and move on. Not worth the hassle.

Chris,

My Airmap has a backup battery pack which I loaded with AA batteries. But it runs off the plane's cigarette lighter when the engine is running. As for the remote antenna, I guess you can contact Lowrance or keep looking on Ebay. That's where I got mine two years ago for about $250, complete package.

Except for eBay I think you have no alternatives. It's my understanding Lowrance does not support those old units anymore.

BUT: Some companies offer a "TradeUp" option where you get a good discount on a new unit by trading in the old obsolete model. It's worth looking into.

Thanks Dan, I had seen something on Lowrance trade-ins.
I'll check.
The 1000 is about $599 on sale and comes with everything.
If I could get a trade-in on the 300, that'd be cool.

The 2000c was just discounted again and now is $779.
Quite a bargain.
With the $225 rebate (I have the instructions on this if anyone needs it), I'd do rather well
