Michel Avionics TKM MX-170B nav/com for sale. Just back from the Scottsdale, AZ repair center where a new transmitter was installed. Looks and works as it should.

This unit is a direct replacement for the King KX-170B and KX-175B. $999.00 plus actual shipping cost.

What is the age or s/n of the unit. Seems I heard they weren't supporting really old units any more. A replacement radio is on my wish list, I can hear Minneapolis Center AND a local AWOS on 116.50 on the nav side of my 170B. Alan

Alan,

You heard correct. I thought I had a problem with my MX300. Gave them the S/N and said they no longer supported it but I could buy an upgraded model.

Found someone in the STL area that was an Avionics tech at McConnell/Douglas and he looked it over for me.

I have an MX-385 in my plane. When my voltage regulator failed in April last year and fried the radio, I sent it to TKM and they still fixed it. Turn around was about 4 weeks from the time I shipped it until the time I got it back. If you need to contact them, send them an email and they usually respond within 24 hrs.

Hung it is the older S/N units and I do not know what the cutoff S/N is they are looking at.

My MX-385 has serial number 0352. When I talked to the technician, she said it's over 20 years old.

The serial # is 5334. It has just returned from their service department so yes they do still support this unit and it's in very good condition.

That was last year Hung. I talked with them 3 months ago. Again, as of 3 months ago they are not repairing the older units. I think mine is something like 3252. And they would not even take it in to test it.

TKM says they will support this radio for about 7 more years, tech hinted they may be shortening the 20 years and out support policy. Seems each year a s/n group turns 20 and that's when the support is gone.
"Old" units still worth $450 trade in on a new unit:)
90 day warranty on repairs. Alan

Just send an email to TKM, and got an immediate response; the cutoff SN for MX300s is 6200. They also mentioned management is considering shortening the time frame, as indicated above.

I have one that needs some work. Mine is new enough for now - sn is the 8000s.
