I am looking for the main gear fairings that cover the gear tubes for an L. Mine are cracked where the steps bolt on the gear

Dan, Unfortunately they all crack at that location.
I have seen a number of repair methods used to piece together these fairings
after they have cracked.
Some of these include using baffling material riveted to the fairings on the inside across the crack
to aluminum strips riveted in place.

I bet Hung even has pictures.

Jim Hillabrand has the latest style round gear fairings on his 152, which are identical to the L-model....EXCEPT, his has the factory 'fix' Cessna incorporated into the newest design to eliminate the cracking issue. It utilizes a section of baffle material to aid in flexing at the step area.

Perhaps he'll be able to get a photo (or six) for you, so you can modify yours to match his. Cessna is getting in excess of $1400 for those now. The updated 'fix' should be fairly easy to emulate.

Ron is correct.....they (the original design) seem to all crack.

The redesigned version that Bengie refers to has been out for a while now and it seems to be doing the job on my plane after 5+ years of service.

You can find a variety of baffle material on the market and I think you'll find that using anything less than the reinforced material for this job would be a mistake. It needs to be flexible yet rather stiff.

With cracks in your existing fairings, you'll need to do some sheet metal work along with adding the baffle material so this will complicate the surgery somewhat.
