There is one on Barnstormers right now. Mine is for sale also. It's not a project, but I think if you look into the cost of fixing up a plane, you might come out ahead buying one that doesn't need a lot of work. Good luck on your search.

This is probably a correct statement.

There are planes out there that you would be upside down in if they were given to you for free.

Actually yes I prefer to be upside down in an airplane that I knew for sure that I had seen touched and replaced every nut bolt spar panel and rivet
Actually much safer than a rental

Yup I'm rescuing a project Aerobat, almost 5 years now but there's light at the end of the tunnel....hope it's not a train.
Lots of $$ probably cheaper to have gotten a flying 'Bat but then it's all about the journey...

I agree. I got a lot more confident in my airplane after doing an owner assisted overhaul. Something about seeing every part of the inside of my engine made me know that it was done right and what it is supposed to look like. I am glad that I was able to buy my plane with a high time engine so that I could get a good price for the plane at the time, and get the experience of overhauling and other maintenance needs through my 8 years of ownership.

Stuart,

If you feel like posting a few photo's of your Auster, I wouldn't mind - and I dare say most others here wouldn't either... cool grin
