The external whip antenna for my Narco 10 ELT has departed the aircraft and I am looking to buy a replacement antenna. I'm not ready to upgrade to the 406 ELT yet. Narco is out of business. I have checked with a local avionics shop and they are doing some searching for me but I haven't heard from them yet. Anyone out there have one they're willing to sell?

(The terminal end of the antenna wire has a threaded sleeve that fits through a 3/8" dia hole in the fuselage skin and is secured by a hex nut.)

It doesn't have to be a Narco antenna! Narco ELT's used a passive antenna (that's basically just piano wire cut to the proper length), so ANY passive ELT antenna will work just fine with no detriment to operation. If it fits the hole, just mount it and hook it up to the BNC connector on your coax.

I suggest the one below as an inexpensive solution (using an old antenna is possible of course, but how long before IT fails? I've lost two that left their mountings!).

Carl,

That's good information, thank you. The information manual that I have for the Narco lists 3 optional antennae and I forwarded those part numbers to the avionics shop. They said they would check to see if they had any of them in their inventory. They happened to mention that other antennae would work but they might not be "approved". If they can't come up with a suitable replacement, I'll go with your idea.

Thanks again.
