I am in need of a Fuel Transmitter for my 1970 150K It is a Stewart Warner and I'm hoping for a used one as they seem to be over $300 new.

I had a fuel gauge drop to empty and it turns out the float is cracked and full of fuel.

Fingers crossed!

I have "heard" of people using a wine cork to replace the old floats on the Stewart Warner units...

Heard it works really well too...;-)

Bummer! I don't drink wine. But I have been known to whine on occasion.

Fortunately, these are available.
McFarlane is probably the only source for new sending units.

The McFarlane unit is easy to install than the originals because the arm can be removed from the sender to facilitate installation.
You could remove the current unit and find someone to solder up the float, but if you go to all the effort to remove it, why not new?
The McFarlane kit comes with everything except the special screw/seals for a leak-proof installation.

If all you're looking for is a float, I might still have my old sending units in the hanger somewhere. I had to bite the bullet on that one since the resistor wire had corroded in both of mine. I'd give it to you for the cost of shipping. PM me if you are still interested.

Think I paid $100 at a salvage yard. My AP said the floats leaking and sinking is a common old age problem and that repairing by brazing the float sealed again is a common fix - especially if the actual sender/resistor is good.
