Anybody know if 150M wheel pants came with little doors to check air pressure, or was that an aftermarket thing!

The originals have the doors.
The aftermarket units (that I've seen) have a lame circular plug.

Anyone have a link to purchase new wheel pants. My wife wants me to put them on our 1974 150L. She thinks they are cute . anything to get her to go fly.

They'll knock 18 pounds off your useful load. :-(

Just........

Something for your passengers to stand on while embarking and dis-embarking

Something to hide the flat spot/damage/etc to your tire(s)

Something to add to the time necessary to change brakes or tires {you do rotate your tires every 100 hrs don't you?}

Something to crack and break, needing repair

Something to discourage you from checking or adding air to your tires, contributing to a short tire life

Something to pack up with grass or dirt on a soft field

Something to add to your nose gear shimmy problem

I just cannot really think of a good reason for having them.

Aah, you're just jealous because your plane doesn't have any pants! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

There were three designs of wheel-pants for the Cessna 150. My plane has the first generation, which are fairly blunt and don't cover as much of the wheel. Plus, they're made of thinner fibreglass (one of the advantages of Clinton Fly-In is you get to compare and contrast). The second generation look like pointy footballs, and the third generation is more blunt, but bigger with little access doors.

The first generation don't weigh as much as later pants (12 vs 18 pounds), plus checking the tire pressure is not as difficult. Finally, I think they look pretty good, which is probably the only real benefit!

Mine have labels that say "NO STEPS".

That's a good thing

That's what my A&P is for.

No arguments here.

I have a monthly schedule to force me to do it.

My home base has concrete runways, and I don't land at grass or dirt fields.
