I have a C-150D with 160 hp, (320 hrs smoh) long range tanks, GW increase. I had all the Cessna corrosion inspections done, boroscope etc and found repairs needed to right spar cap and Lt fwd spar attach fitting. This will run $19k for salvage wings and LR tank mods. $21k to repair the existing wings.

I have put quite a bit into the plane in the last 7 years and not sure if I want to make the repairs. I have an unverified offer from a salvage yard of $9k to 10K.

Not sure why any one would want to take this on as a project. Replacement wings can come from 1963 to 1969 as I understand.
Just thought I'd check in the event someone has a run-out wing donor airplane. I'd feel somewhat better if the plane continued to fly VS parting it out.

Still thinking about all this.

I won't go into details here but if anyone does not have enough to do, reply here or call 916-761-4630 any time.

I may be wrong, but, I think the replacement wings would come from a '59-'65 150. In 1966, the 150 wing was changed over to electric flaps and the wing structure was slightly changed for the flap motor.

Loy, How much are you asking for your project and do you have any pictures?

The engine alone is worth more than the 9-10k offer from salvage. Some folks irresistible appetite for stealing something from somebody is of no tact. Hopefully, you can fetch fair value for this project. Sounds like you are not desperate to sell.

Good luck.

Those estimates seem high to me, you could find an airworthy straight tail for less than 19k. Just swap the wings but you'd lose the patroller tanks. 21k to repair? I'm betting they're throwing that price out there to encourage replacing the wings so they can buy a project with your money....

Just a thought

Sounds like a fair offer from the salvage yard. You may be forgetting that these folks do salvage for a living. They purchase the airplane, move the airplane, disassemble the airplane, market the parts, and store everything until it sells. They pay income tax, property tax, mortgage or rent, employee wages, and insurance. They're not going to offer the same amount as some private individual who wants the stuff for himself. On the other hand, they make offers and complete deals quickly. Like cars, if you want as much value for your used vehicle as possible, don't trade it in at the dealer.

Thanks, good to know the applicable years.

I was planning to ask the salvage value which I don't know yet. I have a lot of pictures. Not sure how to send them here. If you email me I can send details and photos.
