Here is the ad on CL:

http://fortmyers.craigslist.org/chl/for/4269655145.html

It is rather confusing though. It is advertised as a 1971 which should be an "L Model" right... I see the longer dorsal fin on the turtle deck but it has flat spring landing gear and the older style cowling. Looking up the registration " N155DC " it is listed as a 1970 but with an airworthiness date of Aug. 16 1971. Talk about identity crisis. Did Cessna need to use up extra parts from the old before totally switching to the new or has someone rebuilt this plane with older style gear and cowling?

Registration:

Good eye. If you want to know about damage history, call FAA and buy the disk. Could it have had a tailectome? It's possible, but so is using up old stock parts at model change time. Happens in other industries all the time.

Something is funny about that plane's A/W date. THIS PLANE [registry.faa.gov] is 3 serial numbers earlier, and has an A/W date of 9/16/1970, eleven months apart.

And another thing or two...
Bryan - I own a 1972 "L" model (manufactured in 1971), and the combined taxi/landing light for an L model would be in the lower cowl - not on the left wing leading edge as on this plane.

The instrument panel outline is that of an L model, but the guages seem to be a mix of different years.

The L model OEM guages that I have seen all have the numbers on the outside of the graduation markings for each guage. These guages have numbers on both inside and outside.

Perhaps, Cessna was at the transition point between the K & L models, and the changeover was a running change? confused

Here are a few more photos on the 150K/150L identity crisis plane. This really has my attention now as there is no accident history listed on NTSB but as Hung pointed out the airworthiness date is much later in 1971. So maybe this was the LAST 150K off the line and they ran out of the dorsil fins and just used the 150L and also interior/panel? What a unique airplane if so... right??!Also... does this have the correct spinner? I can still see the little breather holes on the front of the cowl but they are slightly covered. Or is that typical?

I don't know if a unique airplane with parts from different models would have any extra "collectible" value, but it would be a nightmare trying to identify the correct replacement parts.

OK.
So...
I looked it up on our club history and I will attach a screen shot of that. It has two (2) N numbers assigned to it. Well... if you look up the other N number there is damage! Someone trying to hide it I suppose. Grrrrrr

I think your club membership certainly paid off in this case.

I agree! :-) Love this place.

Question.. if you noticed, there was a date with a link for the accident history. But when you click on it it takes you no where. Any idea why? Or is the fact that it is a link just an oops. Just meant to me a date? Dan???
