Rare, new (unused) OEM Cessna 150 Long Range Tanks. PN's #0426519-19 & 0426519-20. They were going to go into the 1976M Aerobat along with the 150HP conversion ... But we're off to build an RV-14 so the tanks (as well as the Aerobat) will be going to another flyer. Asking $2000 for the pair

It took years to find these (buried in a hangar up in Minn) and I kid you not ... They are indeed brand new ... Still have the Cessna stock number ticket on them.

It would depend upon the wings you're putting them into. If you have wings that used to have long range tanks but no tanks, you're all set.

If you don't, you'd either have to find salvage wings and swap the wings on your plane or you would have to modify your existing wings to accept the long range tanks. Modifying the wings would be a lot of work.

If I were to go this route, I would buy Dan's tanks because they are rarer than hen's teeth then start looking for a serviceable pair of long range wings. The wings would be easier to find than the tanks.

DelAir states about 40 hrs. labor to install their modified long-range tanks. Do the math. wink

There's several videos on youtube explaining the process on a set for a 172, very similar in shape to the 150/2 series. You may want to watch all of the parts in order to decide if you'd want to undertake a project of this magnitude. Whereas, it doesn't appear difficult, just time consuming.

Do you like his shop? Do you have all those tools?
Which is why it's cheaper to find a set of LR wings w/ tanks, and swap them on your plane..

Doing that kind of riveting you need a "dancing partner" that you develop a "rhythm" to get the job done....The guy bucking needs to be just as good as the guy driving (shooting).

Hi Flying Fam:

Always appreciate the supportive comments from my fellow Club members with selling these tanks.

Sounds as if there's an effort to "calibrate" anybody that's remotely thinking about a long-range tank option.

Probably most of what's been shared in this thread makes sense with anybody wanting to convert a "std" wing to an "extended" wing. It's been done before and most anybody that knows us realizes that Sandy and I were gathering all of the parts to do it for the Aerobat ... and we would have knocked it off, but we'd just as soon put the efforts into the RV-14 now.

With that said, let me share a call I received yesterday from a Del-Air customer that has been waiting for over 6 months for their tank order. Their expectation is they will continue to wait ... bottom line, no extended tank order (that's why they called us, to purchase these tanks but unfortunately they had the earlier "moat-type" wings ... rats). Not quite sure there's a viable option out there right now for extending the main tanks ... then again there's the Flints or the baggage compartment option. I guess time will tell on the main tank option, eh?

The Del-Air solutions are pretty cool but with Harry passing on there appears to some challenges to the business offerings. I sure do wish the family well and hope the STC's will still be offered, whether it's through Chris or another buyer.

I have no doubt the beauties we have sitting in the hanger will move to another owner, we're not asking a dime over what we purchased them for on the transaction ... it's the same price we paid for them a number of years ago.

We could have had them sold twice over except the two interested parties were flying earlier model birdies with the "moat-type" of fuel caps. Unfortunately, these tanks won't fit the older style wings ... verified from a Cessna engineer who pulled the prints (nice to have friends still at the "home front"). There are some subtle dimensional changes in the tanks that clearly place these tanks into the "non-moat" type of 150's and unfortunately not in the C152's.
