We did put the Niagra window latches on both Sassy and more recently LuluBelle. The spend was painful, but end result is oh so much better. In the end we consider it worth it.

I looked up Niagara's price, $165! So, would $50 for a used one be a good price?

50$ for used is ok but what are you getting for that? These things were not designed to last 40 or 50 years. If the metal is ok and it inst too pitted then thats a great deal. I managed to find one really good original latch a few years back and one that wasnt so ugly in a junkyard. If i have to replace them now its going to be the Niagara Airparts one. I dont think you can find these things anymore if at all in decent used condition.

Basically, you are spending $100.00 more for a new part that will last another 30 years plus. OR you can spend $50.00 for maybe another 5 years or so of wear, then repeat the process.

I have the Niagara window latch on the pilots side and am just waiting for the right side to break and replace it with the new Niagara part. But, might not wait that long and replace it this winter.

I had purchased new latched when I first bought the 150. I also bought some used doors for parts years ago. They did have the latches on them so I replaced the right side latch yesterday. The ones I bought and broke are not the same design. They do not hook over a flat plate, they fit into a slot . The part on the window screws together to the movable latch and the latch has a little ball bearing and a spring. I found the spring under the seat but not the ball bearing. ordered one from mcfarland.

The dealer I bought my plane from has some window latches in stock. She quoted me $125.00 CDN + shipping. Only bad news is they don't take credit cards.
