I need help determining if the price is right for this aircraft.

1974 150L
TT 4865
SMOH 228
new cyclinder
MX 300 Nav Com
RT 241A Transc
AT 50 A Transponder
Annual 5/1/13 ( we have folks in the chapter that can do the annual)

Asking $10,000

I'm considering getting some folks together and buying this to begin a flying club for our youth avaition program.

Your thoughts?

It sounds awfully cheap, to me. Have you seen it?

I've seen planes this cheap...for a reason.

Corrosion.
Significant engine problems (despite low SMOH numbers)
Corrosion
Ratty Interior
Corrosion
Missing logs
Corrosion
"Annual with sale"
Recent Corrosion X treatment.
All the corrosion X in the world will not restore flaked-off metal.

You get what you pay for.

I wouldn't bite without a good knowledge of the plane, inside and out. It might be a deal such that you cannot afford.

Yeah... seems like Tim Noto sold his plane almost that cheap. You know, the one I'm paying parking on that's currently sitting without engine or paint.

Kidding aside, if you could part the airplane for the purchase price, its hard to go wrong. Someone may buy it just to hang that low smoh engine on an export.

Came through a QB contact. Owner lost his medical, only a bit of surface corrosion from bird crap on a small part of the wing.

I have seen pictures, and the plane is close so I can go and see it tomorrow.

It was flown recently, runs well.

I agree, at least parting it out would be $ ahead.

I'll take more pictures when I go and inspect it with the logs.

There's nothing like putting your eyes on it, John. I hope it's in excellent condition, and that it's something that'll fit what you're wanting to do with it.

Knowing the owner lost his medical and is selling to someone local makes me not so suspicious of the condition versus the low price. Good luck!

I looked at that plane a couple of years ago! grin The corrosion was fizzing and dripping out the seams and the owner wanted me to come on a test flight with him. Even in my rookie state I knew that one was a bad one. Fortunately my phone rang and it was a client with an emergency which allowed me to gracefully withdraw.
