I considered Pipers (and did all my training in them - I like 'em).

However, I want the bigger doors for easier ingress/egress for a number of personal reasons.

Plus, I have the "CESSNA" license plate for my Suburban and "PIPER" is already taken. grin

All valid reasons with much merit.

The Cherokee 180 series is probably one of thee best "all around" planes available to us and it's a shame it does not and can not address your list.

Simply a great, dependable, predictable, forgiving and safe plane. whistle

Agreed. The 180/Archers are wonderful. I really enjoyed flying it.

I got my high performance endorsement in a Piper Dakota and my complex in a Piper Arrow. I like the Cherokee/PA-28 airframe.

Aaaahhhhh.....you guys are making me feel all warm and fuzzy. Accepted despite having a deformity with the wing on the bottom.

(Thanks Justina and Bill.....I adore this picture from our little jaunt from Bryce Canyon to Page in 2007)
