Were some made this way, or is this 150 modified for single pilot?

Is it legal to remove one yoke to free up room and space? Seems as if it may require field approval.

Hmmm...
Probably not.
You would need to look at your EQUIPMENT LIST that is applicable to your year/model 150.
In this list are several categories:
R-Required items of equipment for FAA certification
S-standard equipment items
O-optional equipment replacing required or standard items
A-optional equipment items which are in addition to required or standard items

My 1973 "L" model lists "controls, dual (wheels, pedals, and toe brakes)" but does not have a listing for a single control option, so being a standard item with no alternate configuration offered by Cessna that a buyer could "opt" for, Dual controls appear to be required.
It MAY be possible to remove one set, but you would probably have to remove that side rudder pedals as well, and revise your W&B. I have no clue if this would be a FAA 337 or allowed, because I really never considered removing one side of the controls- besides, I often fly from the right side seat.....

Some folks must have field approval though because I can't figure how else you get in a parachute jumper without taking out the seat and right yoke.

I thought that way back when, the 'standard' model had dual controls and it was the original 'commuter' model that had the single control option. Dual controls were standard equipment.

From what I have read there were three versions of the 150.
Standard, Trainer and Commuter.
Dual Controls was standard equipment on the Trainer only according to the sales brochure for the 1960 Model.

Nial, I wasn't trying to prove anyone wrong, just passing along info that
I have learned on this very forum a long time ago.

There is lots of info to be had in the Hanger section of the Club's Web site.
