I've been watching this 152 on e-bay for a couple of days, and can't really decide what I think.
look here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...08638&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3AAAQ%3AUS%3A1

It looks ok, and i'm not really all that scared of the high hours... but there are some issues...
What say y'all?

Chester,
I'm also in the market. That plane is way too much $$$ for what it offers (TT 10,232, SMOH 1300) For me, personally that plane has too many hours. Go to barnstormers and for amount of money you will find better plane and you won't be so rushed...good luck..

Chester, I bought mine from a local at my HBO, but I've delt with a few people on e-bay most are probably all honest and true but if I was in the market again I'd go with the Clubs classifieds. If you can't find it there you probably either don't need it or you can add on to what ever plane you see that tickles your fancy. I've seen quite a few on there that were worth the money. Just my two cents.

Chester:

Didn't you buy an Arrow?

Why buy a high-time 152? As one of the previous posts indicated, if you want a 152 look around a little more, you can do better than this one.

I've seen some better 152s on Trade-a-Plane. It might be worth looking there.

Generally, I have little against high time aircraft or even TBO'd engines, as long as the logs show a history of timely maintenance and is well documented, and everything functions normally. But, high time airframes do require a certain amount of more detailed inspection than might normally be required prior to purchase. Almost every moving part should have been replaced, repaired, rebuilt, rebushed, etc. in 10,000 hours. That's a thick logbook, if done right! It's a lot to check. And a lot can be missed. The asking price should adequately reflect the higher time and perceived financial risk, unless you are personally familiar with the aircraft and it's history, and are willing to pay a premium price for an aircraft that you know. While $22,000 is not premium price for almost any airworthy 152, I see nothing that stands out here and says "I'm worth it!" Run it through one of the online appraisals, such as Trade-A-Plane or V-Ref, and don't pay a dime more for it!

I know you're tired of looking, but there are still better planes available, even at that price!

I did buy the arrow, and I love it.. in fact since June I've put close to 200 Hours on it. I'm now in that quasi-dreamy stage of looking for another. You know something a little different.
As the hours will indicate, my Arrow is no hanger queen, but I still find myself thinking about going flying around some days, and feel that dragging out the Arrow is a bit too much for the "sky hole punching" I feel like doing. I have some friends that are telling me to try an Ultralight, but I really miss the 152 I trained in.
So I'm just looking. I also have been doing that Confeder... uh Commemorative Air Force thing, and would love to find an ol' 120 to buld Tail dragger time so I wont ground loop a war bird.
I wasn't planning on buying this one in particular during the auction, but I was interested in seeing what y'all thought. I did find my Arrow on E-bay, (didn't bid) but it's where I found it... and so far (knock wood) it's been very reliable and fantastic. I'm sure the $4,000 annual it went through before I picked it up didn't hurt though.
Thanks for the input guys!
