Take off another hundred, you will have to change the Winter weight air in the tires to Summer weight air. | | | | Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 2,326 Member/1500+posts | Member/1500+posts Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 2,326 | Gary, I'm curious how you reached this figure..... Could it be what you paid for your C152 project? To me it would be hard to get an exact figure, would have to know if ALL ADs are current, complete airframe logs, damage history,,,, also are the wings included, just removed? Or are they missing...

You're exactly right, Niall. I've seen no pictures. I've read no significant list of details. So, essentially, all I can infer from the sketchy information is it's a 152 fuselage with perhaps a few other pieces laying around. Putting the value of an airworthy 152 with a mid-time engine at around 18,000 dollars with decent avionics, I just subtracted what it would cost to buy a used stock prop, mid-time stock engine, decent but basic avionics, some interior parts, maybe a seat or two and new tubes and tires all around. Factoring in some repair pieces required for the hangar rash that invariably attaches itself to such projects, and I really feel like my estimate is on the high side. I don't even know if this project has any logs. So, as sad as it sounds, it's very likely worth more as salvage than it is as a project. It would have to find value in the heart and eyes of someone who is very mechanically inclined who is either a very dedicated A&P, or at least has a great working relationship with one. Paying anything for labor would very quickly make the project end up costing more than it could be sold for. The real answer to your question, Niall, is I pulled it out of my a$$. But, it all depends...will the buyer use his mind or heart to make the purchase? Personally, I couldn't afford such a great deal myself.

The rest of us here must have real good imagination, and all imagined the same thing. | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 750 Member/750+posts | Member/750+posts Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 750 | Does it have a clean title, paper work and log books for the airframe? See FAR's 47.31, 47.35 and 47.49. If it doesn't I would not give you anything for it as you would have a hard time getting the paper work required. If it does have the required title and paper work, change the title over to your self and you have a " licensed " airplane.
As to what it is worth ??? Gary may very well be on the high side. | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 4,768 Likes: 3 Member/2500+posts | Member/2500+posts Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 4,768 Likes: 3 | I am building an airplane (check out N7559Q.blogspot.com). The question I had to ask myself, and the, I think, the question you need to ask yourself, "what is the objective".
If the objective is to obtain a flying airplane, walk away from it and go find a nice mid-time or better 152.
However, if your objective is to have a project, then this one sounds like a good one. It will give you many hours of shopping, building, assembly fun.
Though, if I were looking for a project that represented this much money, I might be more tempted to look at a Sonex or something similar.
I am building the Wag-a-Bond because I like tube and fabric airplanes (especially Pipers). I am building from plans because I don't have to pony a bunch of money up front. I am building because I want to build. I already have a pretty decent 150 to fly.
One other thing, and I bet you know this, a lot of folks would kill for hangar rent of $200 a MONTH!

We do have a number of folks here that believe putting down and degrading others is all great fun. But, I can assure you that everybody is not all like that. Stick around. I believe that over all you will find a pretty good group of folks here. Bill | | |
