I've contacted the seller and he has sent me some info on the aircraft and pictures of the avionics stack and a run down of what the plane has and what has been fixed in the 09 and 10 annuals. I'm waiting on the scanned copies of the engine and airframe log books and plan to try to get over to look at the plane later this week or next week.
I'd be using this bird to complete my flight school and then probably hanging onto it as I love these little planes. I have so much fun flying them.

I am based at WEA (Parker Co.) and have been working on another 150 on the next row over from where it is currently parked. Even took a picture to write down the registration. [Linked Image] Presently, the nose gear strut needs air/fluid service, and it could definitely use a washing, but that is as much as I really know about it. The FBO mechanic and his IA stopped by it days ago for a few minutes - perhaps this was the estimate he received for the spot of corrosion mentioned in the CraigsList ad.
I will be out there tomorrow and will look closer and get some more pictures.

Awesome stuff Konrad. I really appreciate any info you can find out from poking around. The seller is slow to get back to my e-mails. I've been waiting on the logbooks since last night.
Are you an A&P? I might need someone to do a prebuy on it
If I get an aircraft it will be my first aircraft purchase so any pointers from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

I do have an A&P, but as the annual is due soon, I suggest working a deal with the owner to combine the pre-buy with the annual. Thus an IA would need be involved. Any airworthy squawks in the annual can be negotiated in the agreement - owner covers them, or they discount the price, or whatever. If you could work it out to do an owner-assisted annual, with you standing in for the owner (and saving him some $), that is about the best way to go about checking it out, IMHO. While competent, and I have used their IA before on mine, the local shop would not be my first choice to do it.

I was probably going to use the mechanic at Huffman Aviation depending on price. Dunno this whole thing is getting a bit daunting lol.
