Well, I had a look at a '65 150 today. Spent an hour going over it. So far it looks pretty good. I found a few minor bugs. The VOR is out of service. Some of the early log books are missing (the current owner didn't have them). It's been repainted, and there is an area of corrosion that the owner has dealt with.

We didn't get a chance to fly it today. The engine compartment fuel sump was leaking. He is getting it fixed before we fly. But I spent an hour kicking the tires, working the various control surfaces, and questioning the owner. We are planning on a flight later.

Any thoughts?

My .02 is... grab it if it's good. That's my favorite model, the D and E models.

Too bad I'm stuck with my tied for first model!

G definately has some positives. And a knot or two.

Pat:

I like the D and E models too. The one you looked at does not sound like it's it top condition, but if the price is right it could be a nice airplane to put a few bucks into. Pat, I passed up a nice '74L model in Kentucky, less than 300 SMOH, IFR panel, nice interior that I think could be bought in the 19-20K range. If you're interested, send me a private email and I'll give you more details and the contact info.

Best wishes.

Don
