Dear fellow Michigan Pilots:

Could you please counsel me on what I need to do to sell my plane which is registered here in Michigan? What documents need to be signed and where do I get a copy of these documents?

How complicated is this process? Is there anything special that I need to pay attention to in selling my plane?

Any advice you can provide will be tremendously appreciated.

Thanks!

Try this web page at the FAA, Good info.

Aircraft Registration Forms [faa.gov]

Also note the statement at the bottom of the page.....

The Aircraft Registration Application, AC Form 8050-1, is not available for download. You must use an original Aircraft Registration Application, AC Form 8050-1. We don't accept photocopies or computer-generated copies of this form. Aircraft Registration Applications may be obtained from the Aircraft Registration Branch or your local FAA Flight Standards District Office (FSDO). If you use a P.O. Box as a mailing address, you must also provide your street or physical location on the application.

Take your white copy registration and turn it over, on the back it will tell you to check the appropriate box and send it in. This gets it out of your name........ you do this, don't trust the buyer to do it. The buyer gets a pink slip with his name and address to fly on for 90 days, he doesn't need your reg. certificate.

AOPA member? if so check their web site for more info.

You also need to report the sale to the MI DOT using the form on the back of your MI registration. You have 15 days to report it.
