In the event of predicted Hail at Clinton what would folks do? Is there enough space to hangar the fleet in the neighboring airports? This is my biggest fear and a reason why I don't do many overnights...

What are the odds? Very slim, I would think. Insurance should cover it.

Keep your fingers & toes crossed and hope for the best. I don't think there's enough hangar space at Clinton or neighboring airports to shelter the 50-60 planes at the fly-in.

One year, we were all away at the banquet dinner in town when a big storm went through the airport. Luckily, there was no damage.

We have always wondered to ourselves (not outloud) what the various insurance companies would think if one day, a hundred claims came in all at once for hail damage on Cessna 150s.

Yes, it could happen, but in 11 years of the event, it has not.

Had this real gullywasher in '06, but it blew thru in a few minutes.

We have had plenty of rain over the years, but no hail.

Aw yes, that sure brings back the memories, Mark.

As far as hail? Isn't that the reason we carry insurance? One way to get an airplane all refurbished. Or, the thrill to go airplane shopping with cash in hand! smile

Hail at home or hail while in Clinton.
Only difference is if it happens in Clinton I will need to buy an airline ticket home.

I'd rather take a train. You don't have to submit to TSA and they serve beer in the lounge car. smile

Most of 'em would just complain and moan, but well airplanes go to fly-in's so...

AVEMCO always sent an adjuster to Oshkosh and Sun-n-Fun, mostly to work the booth but just in case. Of course we had Charlie Hillard's accident in 1996 while at Sun-N-Fun but that was a horrible day, still don't like talking about it.

If a hail storm was headed to Clinton with my plane there, I think I'd let 'em total it, and buy an RV-7 kit, engine, and prop. grin

Dang, dreams of flying at 200 mph have captivated my heart, mind, and soul..
