There are a few down this way, not a bad looking aeroplane, (as far as bad looking aeroplanes goes) - yes very boxy, and I believe the fuse is designed to be a bit wing like (read lift generator) also.
They come with a variety of Engines and Props.....mostly with 180hp with CSU, however there are some 200hp around. Can be Conventional or Tricycle - Stick, not yoke though I can't be sure if it was an optional thing or not, I don't think so.
Anyway, not really my cup of tea, but... I haven't heard anyone say anything bad about the performance as such - it would probably suit you needs for the Cheyenne all
Well....it's not long, lean, and sexy... Kinda boxy looking.
You thinking about one? Supposedly they're lots of fun and pretty strong, structurally speaking.
A fellow has emailed me with one to sell and it has aroused my curiosity. With the little research I have already done on the Internet, some of the things that appeal to me are it's having around 1000 pounds of useful load, (Almost as good as the 150/150. )It is designed as a four place so plenty of room for Cheyenne and camping gear. Contrary to it's looks, relatively fast. With the O-320 it will appear to cruise in excess of 150 MPH. But still fairly nimble in getting off the ground and climbing.
Oh, another question. Is anybody here experienced with taking a Canadian registered aircraft and registering it here in the USA?
I suspect Jim Bede was a little ahead of his time with the #4. In that era, experimentals were plans built only, right? Didn't he offer components as well? I've seen several at OSH over the years. I've never heard anything bad.
Yep! Some answers have been answered. But there are still some others............
This airplane has the "Murphy Wings" that are referenced. I am curious if these are associated with Murphy Aircraft? These wings are longer then the original Bede wings. So given speeds would also be different, I imagine.
There seems to be a weakness in the original Bede landing gear. But this airplane has been modified with Cessna gear. And we all know how stout that is!
I have sent the owner a heard of questions. (Many thanks to Gary!) When I hear back I will share them here.
