This has to be a hoax or a damaged plane, but at this price, the engine core would make up a substantial amount of money. Carl or someone can transfer the STC although it will take some paper work. Location is Stuart, FL (search by city). It says it's a Texas RAnger STC which may be the current Del-Air version, but not sure. The LR tanks and tail wheel used to be called the Texas tail-dragger and Texas long-ranger, so I bet it is.
Hope someone steals this like Bill did his. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> | | | | Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 13,969 Member/10,000+ posts! | Member/10,000+ posts! Remember Jeff, initially we both were convinced that the plane that I got was a hoax at first! Too bad this is a Florida airplane. I could buy it, switch the wings and probably turn around and sell it again! Then I would also have the landing light back where it belongs! Oops! There is just more than the landing light that is different between a '66 and '75, isn't there? Drat it all! | | | | Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 490 Member/250+posts | Member/250+posts Joined: Jun 2005 Posts: 490 | Jeff, I'm 15 niles from Stuart...I'll go check it out this week, take pics and try to get the story behind this plane... | | | | Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 18,962 Likes: 3 Member/15,000 posts | Member/15,000 posts Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 18,962 Likes: 3 | Oh, the irony of it all! Stuart isn't far from me, either. At last count, I had 3 complete and 2 partial airplanes in my hangar. And, I don't have the ready cash for a 6th, no matter how good a deal (that would change quickly for a really good deal). She'd just have to sleep outside (the airplane, I mean). When I figure out which airplane is causing the population explosion, it's gonna get "fixed"! | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 5,951 Likes: 1 Member/5000+posts! | Member/5000+posts! Lets look at what you would get if you bought the plane, based on the cost for elements necessary to make a 150/150 conversion.
150/150 STC - $7000 Engine core - $3500 Prop and spinner - $2700 Long range tanks - $4000
For a total of about $17,500.
Add some value for salvageable parts (control surfaces, wings, seats, etc.), say $5000 and you wind up with over $22,000 in value IF and only IF you are really interested in making a 150/150 conversion. The $9000 difference in purchase price and value will go a long way toward paying the labor bill for making the conversions.
Just another way to look at it. | | | | Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 643 Member/500+posts | Member/500+posts Joined: Aug 2004 Posts: 643 |

And yes, Jeff....I can be as Hospitable as Bill was.
I know if it's a deal it will get scarfed quickly, but I am finding that some folks are selling these cheap, although I can't figure out why.
Hey Carl, Maybe if I buy it and it needs help, you can mate it with one of your "extra" offspring and then send it home in the spring. Maybe it goes to Shelby first at tnwings for paint and interior???? Hmmmmmm..... | | | | Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 10,735 Likes: 108 $ Member/10,000+ posts! | $ Member/10,000+ posts! Except my tailwheel endorsement (that is going to be taken care of very shortly!)

You know that the latch string will be out and the coffee pot on in Midland or Ruidoso for a RON (or two) on your way home. | | |
