West-Wind Aviation out of British Columbia, Canada.

Has anyone heard of these fellows or had dealings with them? I am trying to purchase a plane through them and I've been having a bit of trouble getting them to produce the aircraft for inspection.

I made the purchase offer a couple of weeks ago and placed a $3000 deposit. It took them 10 days to get back to me to inform me that the seller had accepted the offer. Not a big issue but part of my offer indicated that I need them to bring the aircraft to a nearby airport (20minutes from where it is based so that it could be flight tested then inspected by an AME).

At first the broker said that the seller would want to stay with the aircraft while it was being inspected. I responded that I had contracted out the flight and AME inspections with the instructions for both to be very thorough, thus I had no idea how long these inspections might take; at the very least a long day if not a couple of days.

Since then I have not heard from the seller or the broker despite sending the broker an e-mail a couple of days back and leaving phone message yesterday.

The weird part isn?t that it?s taking some time to get the plane delivered. I understand everyone has things to do and lives to live. The weird part is no phone call! No contact to say hey I can?t make it out with the aircraft this week but I?m free next Saturday at 1pm or whatever. . .

It seems to me that the broker?s job is to stream line these issues but he seems to be mysteriously unavailable these days.

Whoops forgot to mention. Yes I asked on the Canadian 150 club site. But it's very very slow over there. . . I know they deal with northwester US sales as wel so I thought some of you might have heard of them. Or at the very least could advise me if this was normal behaviour.

I looked up the owner of the aircraft using his registration. After contacting him directly I can see the delays were caused by a minor miscommunication between the owner and my AME. All has been resolved and the plane should be available for inspection tomorrow.

I never made a purchase, but I worked briefly with Westwind a few years back...before I did anything I asked around and most folks felt they were fair, but that isn't a clear endorsement.

I think it's just the single engine, piston airplane syndrome. In otherwords there isn't much money in selling a c150 so I'm kinda of down on the priority list.

I suppose if I was looking at million dollar turbine I would have the brokers personal cell number.

Either way, I found it worked out better contacting the seller directly. We had a good chat for about 20 minutes and that conversation helped relieve some of my tention and apprehension about the aircraft. He seemed like an honest fellow who looked at maintenance and safety the same way I did. I'm now left with the impression I got a good deal on this aircraft. Of course I'll let my AME be the final judge of that.
