I'm working on the nose landing gear on my 152 project, and have the shimmy dampener disassembled. The shaft is corroded on the end opposite the clevis yoke. Just the shaft is over 300 bucks if you were to buy one from Cessna. A new Lord shimmy dampener from Spruce is about 700 dollars.

If anyone has a shimmy dampener laying around that they don't want... Or, if anyone just happens to have a shaft for one laying around... grin grin

Thank you!

Might as well show a couple more pictures, while I'm waiting...

I removed the nose strut, disassembled it, and removed the paint from the strut and all of the steering components. Today, I made a make-shift alodine tank, and they all came out looking nice.

One thing I don't usually remove, but I did this time, is the lower plug on the tube that the fork bolts to. I figured that if I'm really tearing into it, might as well tear into ALL of it.

Very nice lookin! How'd you clean and strip the parts? I'm considering the same thing on my strut since it has leaky seals. Yup, I have to go overboard (and Lionel's rework job just looked so damn nice) laugh

Precisely, Mr. Jim. I'm especially interested in that beautiful blue rag! grin

And, as best as I can see by the photo, that shaft is not corroded!!! That's exactly it...and it looks to already be painted matterhorn white! grin
