Support services include: help with parking/tiedown, checking in, schedule of events, communication, port-a-potties, camp site, shower facility, getting to/from the viewing tent, etc. (10=highest, 1=lowest)

I don't expect 5 star service, after all it's friends at an organized camp out. To do too much more would increase costs and time commitment, and become of questionable benefit.

The volunteers were outstanding! Just about everyone pitched in and helped out when needed.
I'm for anything that reduces costs and insures that our Clinton Fly-In can continue indefinitely.
If the foundation needs me to do anything to help, you know where and how to find me. | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 10,432 Likes: 870 Member/10,000+ posts! | Member/10,000+ posts! Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 10,432 Likes: 870 | It was my first time camping at the airport this year and had a blast. The showers worked great and now that I know how to set them up it should be easy on the first day next year. Earlier in the week Wayne was gracious enough to loan me his hotel key so I could shower there. Because of some of the running around I had to do I rented a car so I wasn't relying on a van to shuttle to/from town when I needed to get something. Also saved on foundation costs by paying for it on my own. It was also nice to saddle up once in a while and crank up the air conditioning. | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,253 Likes: 1 Member/1500+posts | Member/1500+posts Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,253 Likes: 1 | The showers were hot, the banquet at the hotel was better, the catering was not excellent, but good enough. I felt kind of bad for the volunteers, who gave up much of their enjoyment to make things run smoothly. Thank you again, for that.
Is there were some way to make a parking map before the event and post it online? I know that the FBO can change it at the last moment. Perhaps a map for the early arrivals, if not for the whole group. Some of us complained about nobody being there Wednesday to park us, but I would not have wanted to miss that dinner you guys had, if I were there. I was caused to move my tent once, and almost twice. Oops...rambling...

The runway 14/32 was supposed to be open, but they ran into delay, so that killed a LOT of the normal Cessna 150 parking. Then the rain and soggy field caused more problems (but not as bad as Oshkosh). So this year we had surprises and more surprises in the parking area. Some of us complained about nobody being there Wednesday to park us, but I would not have wanted to miss that dinner you guys had, if I were there. The late Wednesday arrivals surprised us too. If we knew you were coming, someone would have been there. Here's a rule of thumb at the Cessna 150-152 Fly-In. If you arrive early/late, and no one is there, park on the ramp in front of the FBO. We'll move you later. If you arrive at night, always park in front of the FBO. We cannot move you into the grass at night. I was caused to move my tent once, and almost twice. Sorry. That was a response to one of the many surprises we were dealing with.

Parking on the ramp makes sense. Probably why I didn't do it.

We didn't expect anyone to be around, but Ed F. was there to greet us and the dinner group rolled in as we finished tying down. What a HAPPY bunch they were! We planned on calling a cab, but Sonja graciously offered us her car. Everything worked out great. | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,253 Likes: 1 Member/1500+posts | Member/1500+posts Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,253 Likes: 1 | 02F was one of those Wed evening arrivals...had to go while the going was good!
