I'm suffering through my first annual on my 150G since its purchase last year. So far, so (relatively) good. Engine came through with flying colors as did the airframe, with the exception of the brake rotors, prop, and plastic (not fibreglass)wingtips Both conical wingtips have been damaged and repaired. However, the right tip is badly cracked at an earlier, badly done repair. Mechanic will not let it pass with another repair.

I've been interested in the Met-Co-Aire tips for quite some time, but this year's big purchase is a new prop. I would like to find a serviceable right conical wingtip that I can limp through with until my funds recover from the shock of the new prop. So...

Any one out there with a spare, repairable right conical wingtip that you're willing to part with?

This could mean the difference between my attending Clinton this year, or sitting at home watching you boys fly over on your way to the Confab! frown

Thanks,

Dennis

Dennis,

I have a good right wing tip from a 152 and I'm going to show my ignorance here so bear with me:

I don't know what "conical" represents and I'm too lazy to research it, so I've included pictures which represent the design of tips I have. They have the small droop at the trailing edge.

I replaced mine with fiberglass tips that you see in the pictures and I have the original Cessna tips of the same design that your welcome to if they'll work? The tips were not set up for strobes, just the single nav lights.

The left one has a crack in the leading edge but it's still usable. The right one (as I recall) is in good shape.

So if they'll fit and you want them, let me know and I'll send one or both to you.

Good luck.

Jim

You're geographically closer Jim, so it may be easier for him to get yours.

I also have a set that I removed from mine when I installed the wingtip landing lights, in fair condition to say the least. Finding a box long enough posed a problem yesterday.

Let's see what Dennis says...

Thanks to you both for your generous offers. I've sent PMs.

Looks like I WILL be getting to Clinton this year! grin

If you end up with extras, I could use an extra wingtip for both wings. The ones I have are cracked towards the rear. The previous owner epoxied them, but I don't know how much longer they will last. I am also looking for the red lens that goes over the nav light on the left wing tip.

Dennis,

I've been calling but keep getting an "all circuits are busy" log jam.

Here are pictures of the two installed on Sierra in her youth.

It doesn't show much detail but you get the idea on color and shape.

I'll track you down tomorrow as I have a commitment tonight.
