I thought this interesting, A tent that hooks onto the tie ring, I am on the fence as the weight is around 9 lbs, the plus side is no polls. I have there wing covers and like them (some don't) I also like the engine cover from them.

$160?? sick

Sorry John! Maybe a bit of over reaction there. But the 9' X 9' tent [eurekatent.com] we carry you can stand up in. It weighs 4 more pounds then this one. Would be a whole lot more comfy! And cost us a lil over $100, (On sale).

It's OK GPBill, I don't have one and at 9 lbs (mine is 5 lbs) it would have to pack up very small. on the plus side I bet it sets up fast.

Seems like the airplane would fly crooked grin

Anticipating windy conditions, I've tied the top center of a small freestanding dome tent to the tie-down ring for added stability and that worked well.

There are SOOOOOO many tents to choose from, and lots of them very affordable, that it's really a decision that's too subjective for a one-kind-fits-all answer.

That front looks a little too vertical to me ... a bit of wind and rain from the front and I'll bet you'd get soaked. Interesting idea, but I wouldn't want to field test it in a driving rain in Iowa in July.

Looks like it doesn't have a floor, thus directly contacting terra firma. My bride wouldn't appreciate that too much. The flip side would be, at least you wouldn't be laying on a mystery bump, knot, pine cone, rock or anything else that tends to hide under the floor of a tent. laugh

I like the idea, but it seems a little too small, and without a floor, its hardly better than making your own with a tarp.

On the plus side, without poles, it should pack very small, which would be great for our airplanes.

It occurs to me that one of those Self-Erecting Pop Up Tents might be a good idea, we have several tents that work perfectly well, but I hate messing with those bendy fiberglass tent poles. How about something like this: http://camptents.com/SpecPages/PopUpTents/PinnaclePopUpTents/PinnaclePopUpTentXP3033-2.htm

There are also three and four person versions. If you watch the video on the spec page, it does look a little awkward to put away.
