Does anyone have the black plastic cold/winter front for a 150F you aren't using anymore? Mine is cracked and chipped to the point where the cowling screw holes on the bottom are missing. I'll have an aluminum one made up if I can't find a plastic one. Thanks~~

Thanks George. I did look on Ebay and saw a listing, but I'm not familiar with halves vs. a single unit (which I have). Will take a closer look into this after the holiday. Merry Christmas smile

That two-piece winter fronts are used on the late-model 150s and 152s with the two air-cooling openings in the cowl.

Older 150s with the one big, wide, oval opening use the single-piece cover. As you may have already guessed, the two are not interchangeable.

HERE [cgi.ebay.com] is one for an H-model. Might fit, might not. Looks like there's an address on the package, too, so you could call them about your model specifics.

I just use a few strips of duct tape across the intake, apply before flight and remove at the end of the day. Use new tape each time not leaving it on any longer than a day.

Thanks guys. I will give the Seller a call Bengie.

I had duct tape on it last week but I have to admit that I wanted it to look "pretty" so I had 6 strips and then across the ends so it wouldn't pull off and tangle in the prop (remember...newbie here). Overkill I'm sure...and another reason to give Tower folks a chuckle when I came in. smile

Yeah, duct tape isn't pretty ... Just the other evening our TV friend Jay Leno in his crazy newspaper clips showed a photo and caption of a 90-some year-old flight instructor standing front of his airplane with duct tape all over the cowl. Had to explain to the wife that considering the fact it was only 5 degrees F. outside, I needed to do the same.

Just another case of a savvy aviator looking a bit silly ... the general public is just too stupid to understand.

Yup, I had to tell my wife the same thing. It did look silly to the uninformed I'm sure...

I clicked on the one Bengie found. Mine's an H but my baffle isn't at all like that one. Your cowling should be identical to mine. I think it's just a different style baffle. I'm still not sure a baffle will make your cabin warmer. That was the goal right?

I flew today and was checking around to see what feels warm and cold. It was -6c outside. My winter front was off. I thought my engine temps were a bit higher than I would have expected, leading me to continue to leave it off. Egt's are just like summer time.

Next time you fly, try this. Without a glove on your right hand, feel the air under the dash on the passenger side. It should feel very comfortably warm. Try your side under the dash, it should be the same, or a bit cooler, but not cold. Then feel around the wing root vents to see if air leakage is your issue on those. Then the flap indicator slot, I'm sure air will come out there, at least mine does. After that just feel around slowly looking for cold spots or drafts. We'll figure this out. You can still try my baffle if you want. We could meet in Sparta or RST if it's that cold. Fly both planes, compare notes, try the baffle, eat lunch. Probably needs to be in January with Schedules.

The cool spot in mine is above my left hand due to the flap indicator slot. The right hand wouldn't need a glove. Let me know. Jim
