Hurry! On ebay right now....
Capt. Sullys hat, autographed, currently only $5500!
The winner will receive the hat, the box, and a personally written note from Chesley and Lorrie Sullenberger thanking them for supporting public education.
However.....
No, he wasn't wearing this hat on January 15, 2009 - he did not wear this or any other pilot's hat on that trip.
No, we cannot promise that Capt. Sullenberger will personally deliver the hat.
The hat is not in mint condition - it is a well-worn ...
(doesn't look like it even has a badge on it)
But what the heck.....I'm sure it will be worth much much more in the years to come. whistle
Currently has 65 bids!

Brian,

Reminds me of other stuff I've seen on E-bay that made me go "hmmmn."

-Ticks from Sadam Hussien's beard when he was captured (2 of them)
-The Red Baron's white scarf when he was shot down (gloves were extra)
-Hitler's "haunted" cap he wore at the Eagle's Nest.

...to name only a few!

I did read about the hat in question being offered on eBay, with the proceeds going to charity, so it's apparently a legitimate auction.

As to the hat's future value...it won't be but a short time that if you mention the now famous pilot's name, most people will likely ask, with a puzzled look, "Who?".

Although this kind of fame is fleeting and will likely fade to black virtually overnight, the incredible feat of airmanship performed by the good Captain will not be forgotten by the people who owe their lives to him, and it seems to me that would be far more rewarding than the fame.

Just finished reading Sully's book. Pretty interesting and well organized story, but mostly only of interest to pilots.

Dan, with all the shenanigans going on these days by famous people, truer words were never spoken.
