I'm a new guy to this club, and am currently in the market for a 150. I've found a couple of 1959 models that have grabbed my attention. What I'm asking for is any comments/criticisms or observations about the 59 model.

Welcome John,
The first thing you want to do is look at Chuck Hanna's web site.....

The second thing you may wish to do is look on the menu on the right here and click on "AIRPLANES." You will find the changes for each model year. Nobody here can honestly say one model is significantly better or worse than any other model year. Performance wise, they all are pretty much the same. So it just boils down to a matter of personal preference. For instance, we purchased a post 1967 model because of the larger doors, more shoulder and hip space, larger baggage compartment and higher maximum gross weight . Primarily because I am a larger fellow and we do quite a little cross country flying requiring the cargo space. Your wants and needs will obviously differ. So, my suggestion would be to write down what you want in an aircraft, go through the specs and find the model that will suit you the best.

Hello John Detrick:

Last year, my wife and I completed a total restoration on our 1959 C-150, and have volumes of pictures in the process. They are a great bird, and I'd be happy to share any questions or concerns you might have.

First, and foremost, do you intend to restore the aircraft you are looking at, or has it already been done?

Thanks again, just yell when you need something, I'm sure there are enough folks here to keep you on the straight, and narrow.

Hey guys thanks a lot. I've looked at all the data available on this and other websites. The one I'm interested in looks to be quite good shape, fairly close to original. As far as what I want....I really like old airplanes, I fly DC-8s for a living so that should say something. I'm looking for something my wife and I can zip around in, something that won't look like every thing else on the ramp.

Welcome, please keep us updated on your progress! Sounds like you know what you want.

On a side note, there's something deeply gratifying about the above quote.
