Got to love this. He's spray painted the whole thing with silver paint, including the insides of the spark plug tops. He didn't even both to wash the dirt off the valve covers. The carb got a coat of rattle can paint as did the data plate.

Oh, yeah... note that shipping is a flat rate $4.95 via USPS Priority Mail.

I'm leery of buying from a seller called "not all there".

Somebody ought to inform the guy that the spiffy silver paint job makes the engine non-airworthy. I notice he's got zero bids. Gee, I wonder why.

Mark,

Other than being a crappy paint job, what makes it unairworthy?

An engine that has paint all over the dataplate, carb, etc., is airworthy and can be put into an airplane and flown as-is? To me, "Low time" suggests it can be flown as-is. Wouldn't the paint on the cylinder heads change the cooling characteristics? Is that legal? I'm no expert, so OK, maybe I was wrong.

It is not the color of the paint but the spec of the paint. Spec of the paint must meet the MFG requirment. My guess though do to the quality of the application that that is rattle can paint that might be heat resistent. I doubt though that it is certified for use on an Aircraft engine.

Paint's not an issue. I know of one purple O-200 running around, and it's legal. Continental Gold isn't any particularly fancy paint, except for the neat fact that it turns pink when it is overheated.

That is neat!

I've never noticed this on my cylinders.

But, I've never really checked them out while they're scorching hot. I would imagine you'd want to shut the engine down before sticking your head in there. grin
