Greetings,
I am not sure if my 500 went south, maybe it went north, but my new unit failed to work properly this weekend. Friday night, I sat down with the unit Friday night to program in a flight that I was planing for Saturday--------no luck. The unit would turn on but would only go to the first advisory screen, the one that cautions the user to not rely on the unit aa the primary mavagation method, but would go any farther. Additional the background lighting would not come on and also it was not possible to turn the unit off. To turn it off, it was necessary to remove the batterys.
Fortunitely, I had not sent in the old 100 unit for the $100
that Lowrance was offering yet, so I dug that out and got my flight planned out. I never thought that I would need a back up unit, but it sure came in handy this time.
Will have to talk to Lowrance Monday.

Well I'll be darned! First problem I've heard of with a 500. Mine has worked flawlessly since new and it was one of the early ones. I'm sure Lowrance will give you a quick turn around on the service...or maybe the seller will exchange it.

Greetings,
I talked to Lowrance yesterday and they had me try a few things, but to no avail. Lowrance instructed me to send the unit in and wuld take about 7 days for them to receive and ship the unit------so it looks like I will be using the 100 for the trip to Clinton. The thing that always annoys me is that a warrenty is not always free-------cost was $7 for shipping.
