The Pulse Light has two settings: a slower setting for daytime use and a faster one for nighttime. The unit also comes with two lamps much brighter than stock. The original lamps can't be used with the Pulse. Also, it stops pulsing when you turn on the landing light (or you can turn off the pulse.) I installed both lamps so I can have a spare on board if the landing light fails.

The landing light in my 73L quit working yesterday. I went to my NAPA store to purchase a GE 4509, but they did not have one in stock. But the parts store did have a GE 4537, which has a candlepower of 200,000. The 4509 only has 100,000. The parts store catalog stated both lamps pull around 7 amps, both 12 volts, both 100 watts. Would there be anything wrong installing the 200,000 candlepower bulb? Technically illegal, because it's not been certified in any way for our Cessna's.... but I did make a note of the part number for future reference! Thanks, Wade! | | | | Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 2,706 Likes: 155 Member/2500+posts | Member/2500+posts Joined: Feb 2009 Posts: 2,706 Likes: 155 | Hmmmm..... http://www.bulbconnection.com/ViewItem/bcrw/itmid/1472/oc/4537/item.htmlA lot cheaper than Spruce has them. A little more googling shows prices less than $8 each. As my last light lasted about twenty minutes before it cracked, I'm feeling a bit ripped off.

I'm considering getting the MaxPulse and no where have I seen that it comes with lamps or that the existing lamps can't be used. Can you elaborate?? | | |
