IATA, the company that trained a lot of foreign pilots that last few years at Ryan Field, has gone under. There are 5 Cessna 150s, and several other aircraft up for auction next week.

I don't know about the planes, but I sure want that fuel truck (the IH not the GMC)!

I'm a new member to this club, having bought myself a 150 at the auction. There were only a handful of bidders, so things went somewhat cheap (the IH fuel truck went for $450). The planes are in somewhat daggy condition. Necessary maintenance was done, but not much else. I spent a good day this weekend just cleaning my new purchase.

Anyway, I'm new to aircraft ownership and a bit freaked out. This week I'll start in on an owner assisted annual to find out how much more I'll be in for before I get up in the air. I'm sure that I am a bit more rusty than the airplane though and will need a biennial beforehand.

Congratulations Kendal and welcome to the club. You will save a bundle doing the owner assisted annual/maintenance. Quite often the biggest thing a retired fight school plane needs is a lot of elbow grease to clean up the years of little TLC.
That fuel truck went cheap enough.
Hopefully, you will or have got the chance to meet some of the club members near you. Local get togethers and Clinton are a lot of fun.

Welcome to the club, Kendel. If the plane was flown regularly, then you know it's in good mechanical condition. I bought my plane from the local flight school and have no regrets.

Welcome to the club, Kendell. I'm sure you'll find (like many others) that this club and forum is a great resource for all things technical and social.

Feel free to ask questions - we've all been there and will be glad to help - we love spending other people's money! smile

When asking just make sure to let us know what year and model of plane you have so we can give the most accurate answers. Knowing where the airplane is kept may also help with locale-specific advice.

Again, welcome to the club - hope to see you flying around!

Congratulations....Are you in the Tucson area?

Which one did you get? Those planes were flown quite a bit, at least until the economy went south. I did my instrument training next door, at Tyconic.
