Hello to all! Just joined forum based on the HUGE amount of info available here and to seek out information and advice. I have had my private pilots license for about 4 years now but because of my job I have lived overseas for the past two years. I should be rotating back stateside in March or April. I was living in San Diego, CA before where I earned my PPL (in a C-172)and as of right now my work is sending me to Los Angeles. I plan on commuting back to San Diego on the weekends until I can return there and have toyed with the idea of looking at purchasing a C-150/152 to commute back and forth, build time and work on my instruement rating. What I want to learn is what is considered a low, medium and high time aircraft, is the C-150/152 a good platform for what I listed I want to do, and what are the economics involve, maintenance, parts etc. I have seen postings on the referrenced book about flying, buying and owning a C-150/152 and as time draws closer to my return I will order it. Any other advice/info is greatly appreciated. Thanks and again hello to everyone.

Jake
Looking forward to getting back to the USA!!!!!!!!!!

Jake, first of all: Welcome to the club. There are few Cessna 150 questions that can't be answered by someone here on the forum.
Nice examples of the 150 can be had economically in these times of financial distress. The 152 is substantially more costly and would offer no benifits I can think of for a basic commuter and time builder, although maybe an IFR 152 would be easier to find than an IFR 150(?) The San Diego to L.A. commute would be quite feasible for a 150 with generally friendly weather and the modest distance. I think a mid-time engine will likely offer the best value but overall condition and a good history is EVERYTHING when it comes to aircraft buying. The answers to most of your questions on this subject will have to be considered within the context of what you're willing to spend to achieve your goals...and only YOU know the particulars of that.
Again......WELCOME!!! Post often, everyone will enjoy reading whatever you have to share. And keep in mind that NO question is too basic or advanced to be asked/answered here.
