Hey guys - I have this 152 listed on Barnstormers for my local flying club. It is sad to see it go, since I learned most of my flying skills in this plane. But like others, I bought my own plane to finish up my license and I never rent the 152. The price is negotiable since it needs to be annualed by the end of November.

Hate to say it, but the asking price of that plane is too high. I ran the number through VRef (which usually gives a higher-than-average valuation) and it came up with $29,500.

ummm.,.. how do you evaluate a plane through the internet?

seems to me it is pretty close. don't they always ask for more than they ever get?

i'd be looking at it if it was north of the boarder.

If you're a member of AOPA, sign in to their website, under the tab "Aircraft & Ownership", select "Aircraft Valuation".

I do a quick evaluation of an airplane by figuring how much the remaining time of the engine is worth, then subtract it from the asking price. The result is what they're asking for the hull + avionics. In this case, the remaining engine hours (2400 - 880) multiplied by $7.50 ($18K cost of overhaul / 2400 TBO) is worth $11,400. They're asking $21,600 for the hull & avionics. Too much.

Hung - interesting calc. on plane worth. It makes sense. I ran the numbers for my recent plane purchase and came out a little over what they said she was worth. Used $8.30 as a multiplier (15,000 divided by 1800 TBO for the Continental). But she's a nice plane and I'm happy...

What determines if it's 2000 TBO or 2400 TBO? I thought the o-235 L2C was 2000 TBO.

Early O-235s had 2000 hrs TBO. When their pistons are upgraded with improved ones later, the TBO went up to 2400.

Russ,

Take a look at "Note 12" of the attached file to see the part number required for the 2400 hrs TBO.
