Does anyone know where I might buy a new gust lock to replace the old grungy one that came with my 1975 150?

I have had no luck looking for a new one on the Internet at all!

It's red, while, and blue, and says Remove Before Flying, or words to that effect.

Thanks for responding.

There are several different versions of the gust lock, depending on model year. You can always get one from Cessna of course, but last time I checked, the price was outrageous, I recall something like $400. You could manufacture one from scratch and have it silkscreened for less. (that would be legal too, under the owner manufactured parts rules)

Best bet to find a used one is ebay or barnstormers.com just keep in mind that they are not necessarily interchangeable from one year to the next.

Thanks, Royson. Interesting that they are not all the same. I can believe the price that Cessna charges - I priced some new control wheel covers from them and THEY were $279.00 EACH.

Peter: it's the little hook with the Remove Before Flying logo that you stick in the control column to keep the alierons and horiz. stab. from moving around in the wind when on the ground.

They are not all the same because the mag switch is in different places in different models, and the flag on the lock is designed to block the mag switch.

How can they ask 400 bucks for that with a straight face.
It cant cost 4.00 to make that. OH- maybe I just figured out their pricing strategy.
Does that mean the rheostat for the instrument lights cost Cessna 20.00?

Up-date on the control lock issue:

My stick-on decal looks great.

Before installing it, I had a printer make some extra copies on adhesive-backed paper.

If any Club member would like one - send me an SASE at:

RR, Jim. I'm going to L.A. for business tomorrow, and San Diego after that to see my daughter but I'll mail you one as soon as I get back - in probably 3-4 days.
