thanks Pat,
it is low time at 150hrs. rebuilt in 2000 i believe. new GPS/Com and new Transponder, both Garmin.
it is a dry plane... never at the coast. new wheels, starter, tires. no other addition instruments like a VOR, ADF,etc.

i am looking for a tricycle gear though. i am halfway through my training and want to continue on with it afterwards. presently i'm in a tomahawk.
asking price of the other one i was referring too was around $35k canadian. has a new 250xl and garmin transponder too. 35k seems high to me though.

What size engine is in it? If it's a Cessna 150/150 then $35K is not unreasonable. If it has a low-time engine and the airframe has no corrosion.

You can usually find something in the 3000-5000 hour 'airframe time' for, between 20-28k USD. Keep your options open.

152's are more likely to be the high time aircraft. Flight schools were changing out their fleets every two to four years and so the 150's went into private hands with fewer hours on them, and haven't flown much since. When the 152 production stopped, flight schools were forced to keep what they had and they racked up the hours. Now that many schools have folded (with the insurance problems in '99-2000 lots of schools folded) many high time 152's have fallen into private hands finally. Also schools have finally begun to replace the 152 since there are a couple of new trainers on the market (most notably the Diamond series).

ohhh don't say that. there has to one out there! smile

do you know of any?

i want to stay away from importing. i've heard that it can be quite the tedious process and very expensive. i'm not that knowledgable yet to get involved in bringing one over.

so you guys think this might be on the high side?

i've seen another around the $23k mark, but has 1400 on the engine and hasn't had much done to it on the exterior. faded paint, tired interior but OK. it is 5000 hours.

Pete, FYI, I just moved out of Invermere this winter, I was there for a couple of years. I purchased mine about 4 years ago. I looked all across Canada at the time and just couldn't find what I wanted. There were lot's of 150's for sale, but not to the standard that I wanted. Anyways, I purchased mine from Texas and imported it myself.

Here's a bunch of links to some pics if you'd like to look at mine,,

Pete, both me and Lionel have imported our C150. It is a long but straightforward process.

How far are you willing to travel, there is multiple C150 for sale in QC province and I can help you find a ferry pilot:

I know also of a 1979 C152II and a 1980 C152 (this one is absolutely clean) and they are both privetaly own and in 32 to 38K$ ballpark.
