Since I don't know how the club classified works (I tried but no success), I am putting my ad here.
I have a Sensenich 74DM7S5-0-56 for sale. Was on my 150/150 when I bought it. I have the US logs. The prop is still certified and in good condition.

PM me if interested.

Can you let me know what you need to get out of your prop?
Thanks

Hi Ryan
I'm asking 600$ and I'm a bit flexible. Can crate in wood box and ship anywhere for the cost of shipping.

Why did you replace it? What did you replace it with?

I bought a brand new 74DM6S5-0-58 prop to go along with my newly overhauled engine.

You know, Fred. Yours is the only DM7 propeller I have ever been able to find for sale. Usually quite a few 6's. But no 7's. Sure wish your prop was fully dimensional!

What differences did you experience when you switched from your old to a new prop, Fred?

Hi Bill,
I can't really answer this question because I only flew 1.2 hrs behind the 72.5" x 56" prop. It was in mid november, outside temp was cold (a little above freezing) There was no vibration, thrust and acceleration was good.

The new prop (full lenght 74" x 58" pitch) was installed on the o/hauled engine so the comparison is hard to do, since my new engine is running very well (and smmmmooouuuuth)

I think the C150 cabin is not large enough to make significant behavior difference for about 1.5" prop lenght. How fast do you cruise with your actual prop ? According to several of your previous post, we both have the same climb number at the same speed and same gross whistle weight. Seems to me the 72.5x56 prop behave like the new 74x58 prop. Static RPM was good with both, altough a little on the high side with the new prop. I am tempted to have the new prop repitch to 56" for more climb and might loose only maybe 1-2 MPH of airspeed. I turn 2500-2550 RPM at 85 MPH when climbing.

I find that very interesting, Fred. When we purchased our previous 100 HP 150, it came with a well whittled prop shortened from 69" to 67". I replaced it with a fully dimensional prop, same 48 pitch, and the result was very noticeable climb and cruise improvement. I would then think that the larger dimensioned prop of the 150/150 would show even greater degradation as it was shortened? Apparently not true.

I wonder if that may be because the 150/150 is nearer the airplane's performance upper limit? With the 100 HP 150, there was quite a bit of room to show improvement. So minor changes showed greater results. The 150/150 is closer to the aircraft's maximum performance. So maybe greater changes are required to see any noticeable results?

I have been in search for a fully dimensional prop. Thinking I would get the same performance enhancement as when replacing the prop on the 100 HP 150. Now? With what you are saying, Fred, that inch and a half more prop isn't really going to give me much, if any, performance gain? In other words, I should just be content with what I already have.

Though, still searching for that set of patroller wings!

Thanks Fred!

Well, I am not an aircraft engineer eek but for what I understand about prop diameter, the overall diameter choosen for a specific aircraft must allow the air to flow easily around the cabin, thus making the 67" clipped prop too small. I think the 69" is already thin and too small. My Luscombe turn a 71" McCauley prop, and I think the O-200 would perform better with a 71X44 instead of a 69x48 prop, but it is not approved. At 72.5" long the Sensenich can propell the airplane trough a larger prop wash diameter than a brand new 69" McCauley, making it efficient for the same airframe. I don't know if what I am saying make sense crazy it is only based on my wink "knowledge" blush

I think that if your prop is still airworthy, I would not replace it.

A good and inexpensive performance improvement wich is on my list is a K&N filter (2-4% HP gain) for about 200$, anyone ever tried it ?

There was a used set of patroller door on Ebay last week from wenthworth aircraft and the auction closed at around 350$ for the pair.
