Well that's special all right...

I'd much rather be able to use one of those SPOT things. If Steve Fossett had one of these...things may have turned out to be very different.

Rob, do you by chance know anyone that has used one of these? Checking online feedbacks they aren't to positive on these units,,

They make personal locater beacons that operate on the same principle as the sat/based ELTs that sell in the $600 range. They have to be manually activated, but probably work pretty well under suitable conditions.

Hard to tell WHAT might have led to the discovery of Fossett's wherabouts. There's always the outside chance he didn't want to be found.

I have it on pretty good authority that he and his wife had a real doozie of a fight the night before or morning of the day he went missing, which is something almost nobody knows. Depending on what it was about or how bad it was there's no telling what might have been going on in his mind that day.

No I don't Lionel...I thought I read that Royson was looking into getting one and trying it out with the aim of making them available to the club. I just like concept.
