It will be done by my A&P/IA, but he's not familiar with 1964 150's. Looking for specific inspection items unique to the 150's. | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 141 Member/100+posts | Member/100+posts Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 141 | I would have him pull the tank covers if possible and inspect the tank straps and also that gives you access to see other problems. Wayne W. lost a plane due to corrosion when he had his removed, i.e. they found corrosion there.
But, I would have him look at the service manual for the 150 and do the list of things in it. It's basically an annual and if he'll sign off on the planes annual using that checklist and you know there's no corrosion on the spar then you're good to go.
Like my A&P says, the 150 is a simple plane and easy to see what's broken most of the time. No strange contortions are necessary to get access to stuff, i.e. looking at the nut plates and bulkheads for cracks in the rear.

Cracks in the doubler / bulkhead where the leading edges of the horizontal and vertical stabilizers attach to the fuselage. Charles shows this on his website. With the exception the crack he shows is at the stabilizer attach points. We had multiple cracks on the corner radius's, (Radii? Radiai? ) That has been the main find in our 150. But, with our mechanic, not to traumatic to repair. But does involve removing the tail structures. | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 8,433 Likes: 3 Member/7500+posts | Member/7500+posts Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 8,433 Likes: 3 | We had multiple cracks on the corner radius's, (Radii? Go to my web page..... http://150cessna.tripod.com/c150tconeinsp.htmland scroll to the very bottom to see what I am talking of. We replaced with the heavier bulkhead and doubler. Quite a difference between the construction between the replacement and our original parts. If I understand correctly, these heavier parts were incorperated into newer models of the 15o / 152? | | | | Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 13,969 Member/10,000+ posts! | Member/10,000+ posts! (Can I mutilate that word any more?) Does my explanation make sense? | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 8,433 Likes: 3 Member/7500+posts | Member/7500+posts Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 8,433 Likes: 3 | Now that you mention it, I do recall you having it replaced.

Still, better than buying a lemon. Good luck, Joe 150F | | |
