Thanks Ron, I placed a bid. I've been looking for service and parts manuals for my 152. Very expensive since the 152 manuals are copyrighted.

I was gonna bid, as it looks like the latest version (some only cover the earlier models... minor differences), but figured somebody who OWNS a 152 could make better use of it. Glad to see it'll be kept in the club! smile

I too need a 152 service manual. Is this one any good?:

It doesn't cover the last 3 years of production, and it is an illegal copy (eBay forbids illegal sales, but it happens). The important thing when shopping is whether or not it covers your year model. There are differences. You should also make sure it is an updated manual. There was at least one update, in July of 1981, as can be seen on the second manual. There may have been later updates, even after the 152 went out of production in 1985 (I'm not at all sure). Buying an update for you manual isn't real cheap either, and the manual must have the latest updates incorporated in order to be legal for maintenance! Of course if it's just for your reference, that doesn't really matter.

Only Cessna can sell new 152 manuals or copies in any form, due to copyright laws, and a new set (service and parts manuals) goes for over $500, last time I checked. Anyone can sell an old original (the first one above appears to be original, but there's no guarantee, and no mention of updates!)

Cessna slipped up and let the copyright expire on 150 manuals, so everybody and his uncle can sell copies. They're even downloadable free on the Internet.

Got mine on ebay. Doesn't cover the last few years, but it covers me. It's probably illegal, photocopied and "kinko bound" but it does the trick. Just wish I had the parts manual...

Alan,
I also looked at this item. However, as Carl noted, this is an illegal copy of a copyrighted manual. While I certainly think that Cessna manuals are overpriced, I feel a little uncomfortable buying an illegal copy. I know that I would not appreciate someone copying my work if I was the author or publisher. I don't want to sound like I'm on a soapbox, but it just does'nt seem right that this person is selling something that they simply scanned and put on a CD. Bottom line. I have to look in the mirror, and I know what is right and wrong.
