How much difference does a climb prop make with a 200lb pilot, no passenger and full tanks. I'm currently looking to buy a 150. How much consideration should I be giving to the type of prop it has? Does a curse prop diminish rate of climb enough to be concerned about. I live in northeast TN and fly into WV frequently. Some of the airports I fly into are a little tight, surrounded by hills. I currently fly a Cessna 182.

Clyde, your question probably has no definate answer, as there are a lot of variables, but you will likely be well under gross (without baggage), and book performance numbers should be pretty close for a given altitude. Most of the fields you'll be operating out of in the Smokies are under 3,500' elevation, and if you can get in and out with a 182, you can do the same with a 150, only just a little bit slower! smile

I like the typo, "curse" prop. Juliet has a cruise prop. I am not very fond of it.
