This is one of those projects that will eat a new owner alive, replace this, overhaul that, refurbish this. You could probably get it legal and airworthy for $4K as long as you don't care how it looks inside or out. So at my maximum price, you'd have $16K in an airworthy beater that's going to need an overhaul sooner rather than later. I sold my nearly mint 1966 150 for $16K (it was nearly at TBO, but otherwise practically flawless, with only 1,700 TT.)
Bidding is just a little over $9K at this point, and the reserve is not met. I'm going to guess that the seller expects to get at least $15K and anyone who pays that much for it is just plain foolish, long range tanks or not. | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 5,975 Member/5000+posts! | Member/5000+posts! This could be a nice plane if you were an A&P and had time to play with it, and definitely not having to pay someone labor to get it going again. The seats are trash, and some of the plastic inside is obviously broken- but if you can live with a ratty plane, why not? As far as the engine goes, yeah it sat for a very long time, but a friend here at HWD resurrected a 150 just like this, and all the compressions came up Ok except for 1 jug, which was changed out. It's been a good flyer ever since. The biggest concern with an ebay plane, is not seeing it in person, and you have to hope there is no corrosion, and if you needed to fly it a great distance to it's new home, lots of things could go wrong on the "ferry flight" home. Then there's the annual, insurance, and so on. Many guys get a young CFI who desperately wants to build time to go get it, usually a plane ticket and $100/day, plus gas. I'd take a chance on this, but it would have to be a personal plane, as these older 150's don't do well at flight schools. BTW- does it really have LR tanks? The "Commuter" name is jut an advertising tag from Cessna... STANDARD, TRAINER,COMMUTER,and AEROBAT was the choices, each of which could be ordered with "fat" tanks. -B

It's actually about what I was looking for when I bought my 150K! A basic airplane with some potential, and no repair I can't handle myself. Yeah, I caught the "Cummuter" misconception too! | | | | Joined: Jan 2004 Posts: 13,969 Member/10,000+ posts! | Member/10,000+ posts! Yea! I agree with Royson. This is obviously a total dog of an airplane! Nobody in their right mind would go any where near it! Best stay away!! Good advice, Royson!! I agree! A mechanics dream at about $12K! Shut up, Carl! PSSSSSSST.......Hey Carl? Gary? Charles? Any problems with gluing 1967 wings on to a 1975 airplane? | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 2,525 Member/2500+posts | Member/2500+posts Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 2,525 | Hmm, so would these wings fit on a 74' 150? Anyone know? Pieced out, it might be a good deal,, anyone wanting pieces? The way I'm thinking, any long range wings, or mods for that matter, probably cost around $4000 plus. I could put these on my plane, if they fit, drop the price a few thousand, and still come out ahead,,,
Uh-hum, do I need my brain rattled for even thinking of such a thing? Cold Shower?

Otherwise..... Oh, I forgot! Yeah! Bills right, they'll fit his bird! they aren't "right" FOR '74 OR '75. :SMIRK: (Good save, huh, Bill! But,.... then what do you do about the landing light MISSING on the '67?) | | | | Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,497 Member/1000+posts | Member/1000+posts Joined: Oct 2004 Posts: 1,497 | Bill, I'll be happy to take the bottom end from that O-200 off your hands if you decide to buy it for the wings. | | |
