Just joined and am going to have a pre-flight inspection done on a 150G in the morning. Found 6254S in the classifieds on this website.

I read somewhere on this site that 0-200 cylinders only last about 600 hours or so. Is that correct??

Thanks

Absolutely not. A regularly flown, properly fed Continental cylinder can, and regularly do make TBO. After the first TBO run, all bets are off. That's why I whole-heartedly recommend using factory new cylinders during overhaul.

If you end up having to replace a cylinder and you just want a hundred or so hours out of it, then get a repaired cylinder. But, at overhaul, spare yourself the additional expense that comes with babying overhauled cylinders and buy new.

If you find a plane that has 200 hours since a major overhaul in 1986, again, all bets are off.
