Howdy folks. Slowly working my way down the to-do list on 6ZC. I'm now hunting for the nose gear lower strut part #0543006-5. It's the section of strut that has the chrome on it. Mine is pitted so badly i could lose a BB in the pits, and it tears up seals in short order. My mechanic wasn't sure but thinks perhaps much earlier years might be compatible with my '79. I've not found it to be available through any aftermarket outfits yet and Cessna is a NP (non-procurable). If you're aware of a good strut on a parts donor, i'd appreciate a shout out. The list is getting shorter and she's becoming a real solid flyer. Good heavens, are these things ever finished? grin

Welcome to the wonderful world of aircraft ownership! Will that be cash or charge?

Russ, that number doesn't show up in the 150 IPC's at all. Those IPC's show the inner strut as "NP". I guess it's the same problem in the 152 IPC.

I may have one in the hangar! It's from my 150C and may have been damaged in an off airport landing. I'll need to disassemble and inspect it today, and unless I find a number stamped on it, I have no way of knowing if it's right for your bird.

I googled the part number you gave and came up with only one good hit.

Wasn't 316ZC in their clutches before you bought her? "Premier Aviation" sure rings a bell with me. Anyway, their inventory shows them as having a new one in stock, if the inventory is current. They seem to specialize in Cessna 300-400 parts, though.

Mornin' Carl, I don't remember seeing Premiers name in my stuff but it's certainly possible.
Perhaps i should put in a call to a Cessna tech and ask if the tubes are interchangeable.
I gotta get out the door for work this mornin' as my help is waitin by the truck but i'll call you this weekend to discuss what we might be able to do.
I really appreciate your help Carl. Talk to ya soon.

You really don't want to be pressing the tube off the fork and on if you don't have to. You cannot locate a good used tube and fork assembly?

If you replace the tube only, you will have to press it in the fork with the holes 90 degrees to the existing one and have it match machined.

Charles, have you heard of anyone re-chroming these? We routinely re-chromed landing gear, valves, pistons, etc. for various jet aircraft in the Navy!

Russ, if you cannot find the parts you need, try the gentleman I mentioned in this post a while back. If he has what you need for sale, but is reluctant to ship it, I can help with shipping. He's not too far from me.
