I don't know anything about this guy! Ran across his site while researching something else. Some interesting info there, though!

Yes Carl,

My mechanics put me on to him. He had paired 2 radios for other guys at the FBO. He's wicked fast, 2 week turn around. $100 min and $500 max (more or less).

He doesn't do faceplates or mechanical repairs (knobs, gears, etc), only electronics. And he doesn't do the master oscillators (too expensive), either.

I sent my radio out and it was back in less than 2 weeks . . . with a note, "Don't send me junk, its a waste of my time and your money." And beyond a cryptic phrase on the bill, "Repair expense exceeds radio value" I don't know what is wrong with the unit. And I paid $150 (s/h additional) to find out I own junk.

But, the other two fellows here are very happy with their repairs and relatively low cost. Most radio shops wouldn't even look at a KX170B. So, a $300 repair - good deal.

So, if you have an ailing KX170B, I'd send it. What's your other choice? If its a dead KX170B (like mine), don't bother.

Roger
