Bill: I like your idea of a skull cap spinner to replace the OEM spinner. My recently acquired C-150F has a good spinner backplate but a defective front bulkhead. Used serviceable front bulkheads are hard to come by because most crack. The metal fwd bulkhead has been replace by a molded plastic one as you noted and yes, they are outrageously expensive. I have not yet bit the bullet and purchased the new plastic part since I’m still in the restoration of this aircraft. Going with a skull cap spinner will solve the problem and not flatten my pocket book.
What authorization did you use to replace your OEM spinner with a skull cap? I’ve heard rumors that it can be done, but don’t see it in the parts manual or the TCDS. Would appreciate any info you might have.
