Some years back a flew a tailwheel 150 with a 180-HP engine towing gliders. I found that I didn't much like the airplane, purely subjective opinion. The climb rate was wonderful and it was much better than a Super Cub (150 HP) for glider tow. However, I found it to have strange handling in level flight (I didn't fly it level very much). More power is destabilizing on any airframe and I wonder if that's what made me uncomfortable in that particular airplane. I've certainly heard rave reviews of 180-HP 150s from others and I don't doubt that they are correct. Never fell in love with that particular 150 - and didn't like the very soft gear on it.

I don't recall the useful load. I was solo except for one flight where a photographer rode along to get images of the glider on tow.
